1 Million Women is a Not-for-Profit organisation, inspiring women and girls to take action against climate change in their everyday lives and empowering them to live more sustainably.

Our internship program requires as a strong passion for the digital world, social media and sustainable living.


Working on the 1 Million Women desk at our Sydney CBD office, you'll be mentored by our Head of Digital and Social Media Manager. We'll help you with your writing and pitches, give you assignments and deadlines and lots of feedback, show you how to plan and edit a video piece, and — of course — publish your brilliant work.

You'll be expected to come up with news ideas in the morning and write them up during the day; you'll also develop compelling images, and produce, direct, and edit a video that we'll help you put together.

Not only that we'll teach you how to SEO and you'll be part of a team of dedicated and passionate women who are out there making a difference!

It is a part-time internship (approx. 1 day per week for two months, with flexibility depending on your availability).

We require that you bring your own computer to complete internship projects and tasks. This internship is an unpaid position; you will learn the ins and outs of how to make social media a productive part of any organisation, gain invaluable work experience in an exciting team and be part of our journey to inspire women all around the world.


Who's eligible?

Ambitious, self-starting, creative, effective people who love what we do, know how words work, and can pipe up when they're ready to move onto the next thing. You need to live in Sydney, or be prepared to commute.


What will I get out of it?

You'll learn as much as you have the ability and initiative to learn. We'll expect you to contribute from day one. We want you to get more out of us than we get out of you; this involves you being assertive, and coming to our office with an understanding of exactly what you want to get out of the internship.

Outside of producing stories and story ideas for 1 Million Women, you can expect to be involved in weekly editorial meetings, brainstorming sessions, and helping co-ordinate our content schedule and contributor network. This internship is what you make it.

You'll also leave with a portfolio of published stories, a video, and two images. All of which will have been published on our huge social network!

Your computer skills, previous experience and one writing sample (if you don't have one then take the time to write a sample blog that you think would fit our audience).

Then separately (and much more importantly) sell yourself to us.

We're interested in some slick, persuasive advertising in the form of a pitch letter – or something far more creative – with you as the product. As soon as you think its proper gold (that is, above and beyond what your competitors might do), send it across.

Our Content Marketing Internship program requires as a strong passion for the digital world, content, sustainable living and an interest in learning about e-books.

1 Million Women is looking for a Content Marketing intern with an interest in learning about e-books.

We've got a wonderful e-book product that will be coming out before the end of the year. Your role will include helping to research and write content, and if you have Adobe Indesign experience we'd be happy for you to design some of the pages too.

This is a great opportunity for someone wanting to expand their knowledge and skills in relation to downloadable e-resources as a content marketing strategy, and build on your design skills. You will be mentored by our Digital Team, and we'll help you with your writing and pitches, give you assignments and lots of feedback. At the end of the internship you will be able to add the e-book to your own portfolio.

It is a part-time internship (approx. 1 day per week for 1-2 months, with flexibility depending on your availability) based at our office in central Sydney.
